What Can I Expect

Vintage Chipmunk flights in Lincolnshire! We are offering vouchers for 20- and 30-minute introductory experiences out of the small and friendly Fenland Airfield near Spalding.

The de Havilland Chipmunk, manufactured between 1947 and 1956, was the favourite post-war training plane for the likes of the British and Canadian Royal Air Forces during many, many loyal years of service.

Hundreds, if not thousands of Air Cadets would have had their first experience of flying in a Chipmunk. And indeed, this tandem aeroplane was so reliable, that it was only officially retired from military flying duties in 1996!

These flights from Fenland Airfield in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside aim to recreate that sense of excitement and anticipation, just as those youngsters would have experienced.

We love the fact that the pilots allow friends and family to approach the aircraft whilst you are getting settled into the cockpit and when you have taxied back, so those epic before and after facial expressions can be captured on camera by your loved ones!

You’ll be kitted out with a headset for your flight, in order to communicate with your pilot and listen to the comms between your aircraft and the Fenland control tower. It’s fascinating stuff and a great insight into what flying is all about.

Once airborne, you’ll discover just why so many pilots have fond memories of the plane affectionately known as the Chippie. Boasting superb handling and infinitely graceful in the sky, it’s a real pleasure to fly and fly in.

Experience the charm of flying in the ‘baby Spitfire’ for yourself with these Chipmunk introductory flights out of Fenland Airfield in Lincolnshire.
