What Can I Expect

Courageous and daring - this is the Viking Experience, combining axe throwing and crossbows with learning how to be a firestarter (yes really) near Doncaster!

There's something really rather appealing about picking up an axe and lobbing it towards a great chunk of wood. Get it right and it'll do a stylish full rotation in the air, before landing with a good, solid thud into the block. Wait for a second….and if it sticks, you've successfully thrown your axe!

We have to say, some people (maybe they are descended from Vikings?) just seem to naturally take to throwing axes. For those of us that don't have that inherent skill, it can be taught and the team will be on hand throughout to teach you and encourage you.

Down at the dedicated axe throwing area within the extensive grounds, you'll see a variety of targets will have been set up for you, along with a selection of different axes and even knives for you to have a go with. Work your way through them all and see if you get those blades buried into the targets.

Same with crossbows. They are impressive pieces of kit and you will be shown how to safely have fun, shooting at a variety of targets.

Every self-respecting Viking knows how to make a fire, so these experiences finish off with a fire starting session to teach you how to get a fire going and how to keep it alight, as if you were out in the wilds of Nottinghamshire for the night!

When Is It Available

• Available on Saturdays and Sundays between April and September
• Extra days may be available in school holidays, please check upon booking
• Bespoke days available on request
• Session times range between 10:00 and 18:00
• All dates and times are subject to availability

• Minimum age 10 years
• Under 18's must be accompanied on site by an adult

• Spectators are welcome to come and watch
