What Can I Expect
It’s the Tank & Military Triple at Gatwick Aviation Museum! Drive a trio of Armed-forces heavyweights at this fantastic location that's in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, yet right next to the famous airport.
A Spartan tank. A Leyland DAF truck. A ‘piggyback’ Landy. All three of the vehicles are or have been used by the military and all three are incredible to drive, as you will find out on these experiences that take place at the unique setting of the air museum.
The tank is everything you’d expect from the Spartan. Agile and powerful, with a proven track record in conflict zones around the world, the British Alvis-designed and built FV103 series is a firm favourite with military personnel and civilians alike.
The DAF truck is a proper piece of kit too. Unlike its motorway cruising cousins, these DAF lorries are built for any terrain and can carry a load of up to four tonnes as well. That means shifting temporary bridge components, carrying supplies, transporting injured personnel - pretty much moving anything anywhere!
Last but not least, the Land Rover you’ll be driving is pretty special too. These 90 Defenders have been built specially for the paras with a soft top and folding rear sides so that they can be semi-stacked in the back of a Hercules to allow for more to be carried in one go! They built very few of them and this one is a great machine and such fun to drive.
In essence, the triple tank and military driving experience gives you 90-minutes of full-tracked and heavy duty driving in a superb setting. What’s more, entry to the air museum on the day of your session is included!
