What Can I Expect
Rum tasting in Manchester - prepare to take your tastebuds on a trip across the Caribbean and South America as you sample six fine rums during this convivial two-hour experience.
Hosted by a rum aficionado, these convivial courses will introduce and immerse you into the world of rum, including how it’s made and how the differences in base ingredients, fermentation and ageing according to where the rum is made, changes the overall taste and look of the final bottled rum.
And indeed, although all based on sugar cane, you’ll learn that not all rum is the same. Flavours vary from island to island, but Caribbean rum is generally smokier, with woody notes, compared to the often lighter, more syrupy rums you can find in South America.
It’s a veritable voyage of delight as you taste your way through a mix of white, dark and fine-aged rums, each with its own taste, flavour and character, from sweet tropical notes to smooth, spiced, and oaky finishes.
These Manchester rum tasting experiences take place at Malmaison Piccadilly on the edge of the hip Northern Quarter, in this imposing former factory turned four-star hotel. The tastings are fun, sociable and relaxed and make for a superb starter for a night out in Manchester
