What Can I Expect

Junior axe throwing in Bristol - the one for kids who want to lob tools into wooden targets! Down on a farm estate between Bath and Bristol, you’ll find this outdoor activity centre, where children as young as eight years old can give the fab experience of axe throwing a go.

Youngsters will be shown the ropes by an expert activity leader, who will teach the kids how to pick and hold the axes, how to stand and how to throw. Full-blown tomahawk axes are pretty heavy, so for these kids axe throwing sessions smaller hatchets and angels are used.

Getting the axe to land with a satisfying ‘thud’ into the blocks of wood is actually harder than it looks. And build and strength isn’t the most important factor - it’s all about technique. And in classic style, it’s often the kids and teens who pick it up way faster than adults!

Talking of adults, a grown up will need to be present to accompany the participating kids, but these sessions are all geared to the children. It’s all done in a fun, yet totally safe way with lots of laughs too. 

As well as practising lobbing those angels and axes, hosts will organise challenges and games for the kids, culminating in the ‘throw off’ to see who is the ultimate thrower. A great way to end these exciting junior axe throwing sessions at this long-established centre near Bristol!

• Spectators are welcome onsite but must follow the safety rules

• Avon Valley Farm sell hot and cold drink at their burger van which can be purchased on the day
