What Can I Expect

Let’s talk beer! Tastings and tours in Brighton and Lewes for fans of craft ales. These fully-guided walking tours lift the lid on craft beers in the most convivial and tasty way possible, with visits to the taprooms of both historic and new-generation breweries.

Your host for these beer tours is a Lewes local Dan who is an International Beer Judge and one of only eight Advanced Cicerone (beer sommeliers) in the UK.

Your meeting point for the Lewes tour is a stone’s throw from the imposing red-brick, Victorian home of Harvey’s Brewery, aka ‘Lewes Cathedral’ as it’s known to locals. Your first stop is across the road at the John Harvey Tavern, a traditional pub serving Harvey’s fine ales in a setting that oozes history and authenticity.

Those on the Brighton tour will meet at The Brick on Preston Street, a craft beer pub serving an ever-changing selection of absolutely cracking real ales and keg beers, including lagers, darks and sours.

After that, you will follow your expert guide to visit other taprooms in the Brighton or Lewes area. Your host will tell you the stories behind each brewery and anecdotes behind each brew, covering everything from the beer making process, to the different types of hops, aromas and flavours.

Tours run on Saturdays in the afternoons and go at a very gentle pace, giving you plenty of time to sample those beers, soak up the atmosphere and learn loads about both the beer you are drinking and the place where it is lovingly made.

Our beer tastings and tours visit three different taprooms in Brighton or Lewes and you will be served around three pints in total. Great gifts for the real ale lovers on the Sussex coast!
