What Can I Expect
Take your first flight with this gliding club near Honiton in East Devon! This member-owned club at North Hill Airfield has been gliding for well over 60 years and is one of the largest in the Devon and South West area. Operating all year round, it’s a friendly, vibrant and convivial place.
You will be getting airborne in a two-seater glider from the modern fleet based at North Hill. Experiences are aerotows; that’s to say the Eurofox tug plane will pull you up in the air, to then release and let you soar gracefully, powered purely by nature.
During your flight you may get the chance to experience ridge lift, or soaring in thermals. You might even come nose to nose with some of the resident Buzzards or Red Kite birds who call this conservation area home.
And we must mention the views. Up in the glider, you can actually see both the North and South Devon coastline at the same time. It really is incredible. And that’s not to mention the sweeping vistas of the Blackdown Hills, Exmoor and Dartmoor too.
Your aerotow flight will last between 15 and 30 minutes (it all depends on Mother Nature) and whilst you’re flying, friends and family are more than welcome to await your return in the airfield's clubhouse and cafe.
