What Can I Expect
Learn how to make a firepit at these brilliant workshops in Essex! Spend the day with the City & Guilds welding tutors at this specialist training centre at Benfleet - and walk out with your very own laser-cut, MIG-welded fire pit.
To make a fire pit you need to know how to weld. Your one-day workshop covers all that and more. All sessions start with a health and safety briefing, followed by an explanation of what Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding actually is.
Your tutors will also run through machinery set up, start up and shut down, as well as what consumables you need and why.
Theory done, it’s time to get welding on 4mm steel in preparation for making your metal fire pit. You will learn how to lay a bead and then advance on to different welding joints, such as lap, butt and tee joints.
After a break for lunch, your afternoon is spent assembling and welding the fire pit. As it starts to take shape, you will begin to feel quite rightly impressed with what you’ve done. The tutors are always on hand to assist, helping with techniques or any questions you have.
By the end of your fire pit making working in Benfleet, Essex, you will be looking at a fully-functioning, laser-cut metal fire pit that you handcrafted and will be taking home with you to enjoy in your own garden or courtyard. Brilliant stuff!
