Your Chimney Lift journey begins at iconic Battersea Power Station's Turbine Hall A in The Gallery, discovering the fascinating history of this Grade II listed Art Deco wonder; including original records, a recreation of the architect’s office and details on its modern-day transformation, setting the scene for the next chapter of your Chimney Lift experience.

After climbing the 39 steps to the base, you'll take your first lift. You then cross over to the incredible glass elevator, to voyage to the very top of the 109-metre high north-west chimney. And the moment you emerge into the daylight…well, it is truly, truly breathtaking.

The glass lift becomes your viewing platform, 109-metres above the ground. On a clear day you'll see for miles. From Wembley Stadium and the Royal Albert Hall to the north of the Thames, to the southern views across the glass roof of the Power Station, reaching to Crystal Palace and beyond.

After your elevator descent back down the chimney on your return journey, take a moment as you leave the building to look back at this true triumph of Victorian architecture and when you admire those famous white chimneys, you can say : “I've been right to the very top!”.

And of course, your Chimney Lift experience doesn't end there. There's a table for two for afternoon tea with a celebratory flute of Prosecco waiting for you at the Clermont Hotel, just a short ride on the Northern Line underground from the Battersea Power Station stop, round to Charing Cross.

  • Time slots are every 15 minutes during the daily opening hours
  • Please note: The time you select indicates when to arrive and join the queue

Afternoon Tea

  • Afternoon tea served daily from 12.00 – 16.30 (last seating)
  • Not available on bank holidays & 24th December - 1st January inclusive

Please note: It is recommended to book at least 14 days in advance of your preferred date
