What Can I Expect

A brilliant day out at Bottisham Airfield with a helicopter ride, a visit to the air museum and a delicious cream tea all included! If you’re into aviation, you will love discovering this former RAF base in Cambridgeshire.

Situated between Cambridge and Newmarket, RAF Bottisham was operational between 1940 and late 1946, occupied by the RAF and then the USA and Belgian Air Forces. There’s a huge amount of history around the role the base played in and after WW2.

The Bottisham Museum, which opened in 2009, is the UK’s only museum dedicated to the RAF, USAAF and BAC. It’s a real hidden gem, packed full with fascinating exhibits and memorabilia, staffed by very knowledgeable volunteers.

What’s more, The Flying Tractor Cafe serves the most amazing cakes from its replica Nissen hut home - and that is where you’ll enjoy your cream tea included with these vouchers.

As well as the aviation museum visit and refreshments, you will also have an amazing helicopter ride. Taking off from right in the heart of the ex-RAF Bottisham, you’ll have superb aerial views of the whole former aerodrome, flying around six miles on your tour.

  • Under 18s will receive a soft drink instead of bubbly
  • Flying activities have maximum weights (per seat) to ensure health and safety along with the comfort of fellow passengers
  • You must enter passenger/participant weight at the time of booking an experience. If weight varies between the time of initial booking and date of flight experience it remains the responsibility of the customer to update their individual weight via their online account prior to flight
  • All passengers will be weighed before flight and if disparity exists between weight disclosed and actual weight (within reason), the passenger may be eligible to fly

  • Please note that the maximum weight limit for the Co Pilot Seat on a helicopter pleasure flight varies depending on aircraft and other operational considerations but will not exceed 95kg
  • If as a party of one you weigh in excess of 15 stone, you may still be able to fly however you will need to purchase an additional seat. This seat will either have to remain unoccupied or can be occupied by an individual as long as the combined total as listed above is not exceeded. However, a total individual weight of 21.5 stone cannot be exceeded
  • Please note that once your booking is confirmed, the provider's terms and conditions will apply. In the event of postponements due to weather and/or operational issues your flight will be rescheduled
