What Can I Expect

Meet them, pet them and go for alpaca walks at this Leicestershire farm! It's destination Ashby-de-la-Zouch in the north-west corner of the county to visit this wonderful working farm with alpacas, sheep, horses, pigs and lots more.

The residents (and there are over 300 of them!) love to hang out with humans. These alpaca experiences are a real treat for youngsters and grown ups alike. Each alpaca very much has their own character and they can be playful, curious and down-right stubborn sometimes too - but always very cute.

We are offering three types of alpaca encounters for you at this Leicestershire location. The Baby Alpaca voucher is perfect for younger visitors and those who don't want to head off on a trek with an adult alpaca. You'll meet new mums and their babies (called cria) in the nursery paddock - and you'll need to bear in mind the breeding season is May to October, so plan your visit for then.

The Alpaca Walk is a firm favourite. You'll be paired up with an alpaca and then head off over hills and down dales, exploring some of the trails on this 110-acre farm. There are sure to be some comical moments (usually when your fluffy mate wants to stop for no apparent reason, or fancies a little picnic), but they are totally adorable.

And if you want to make a day of it at this Ashby-de-la-Zouch farm, we can highly recommend the Alpaca Walk with Afternoon Tea. Your teatime sweet and savoury platter will be served to you at the Chilli Bean, the farm's welcoming cafe in the converted milking parlour.

All alpaca experiences in Leicestershire include a 15-minute health and safety briefing and you will learn lots of anecdotes about the farm's work breeding, caring for and showing alpacas. For example, did you know alpacas love a bit of pampering? They have a pedicure every two months! You'll learn lots about alpacas on these experiences for all ages.
