What Can I Expects
A traditional arrow making course in the heart of East Sussex! Spread over four days of workshops and activities, these hands-on courses will teach you lots and you'll have loads of fun and relaxation time too.
Host Phil invites you to camp on the woodland site from Thursday night for this course which will run through Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Basecamp is the large, well-equipped expedition tent area, which houses a heated workshop, kitchen, showers and toilets.
So, let's talk arrows. Ever since the mesolithic hunter gatherers fashioned arrows out of flint, human beings have been using bows and arrows for hunting and warfare. You'll hear lots about the history of arrows from leader Phil, who is massively knowledgeable on the subject.
You will be in the workshop to make several different types of arrows. From the modern day sport target shooting type, to the primitive hunter gatherer arrows, you'll get an amazing overview of arrows through the ages.
A highlight of the course for many is making Medieval arrows using traditional techniques and tools. From nock inserts and feathers, to honing your carpentry skills, these sessions will teach you an awful lot.
A fascinating opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn new (old!) practical skills and spend time in the East Sussex High Weald countryside, these traditional arrow making courses are always a hit!
