What Can I Expect
See the sights on a powerboat sea safari around Edinburgh! Set off from Port Edgar at South Queensferry to explore the Firth of Forth filled with sights, history, wildlife & more. It's a must-do when in Edinburgh.
We are offering two different powerboat tours for you : The one-hour ‘Three Bridges Blast' and the two-hour ‘Three Bridges & The Islands' safari. You can buy adult (14yrs+) and child tickets (6-13yrs), so you can take the whole family along.
After launching, you'll head under the spectacular Queensferry Crossing, on a heading towards Rosyth. This is home to MOD Caledonia in Dunfermline and the docks where the aircraft carriers are built and where you can spot nuclear submarines. It's quite an impressive sight to see from the water.
Heading back up the Forth, you'll go right under Queensferry again, then the original Forth Road Bridge and then the iconic Forth Railway Bridge. It's not every day you get so close to these imposing structures and it is a wonderful and unique viewpoint from the boat looking up. It's also a great way to spot wildlife on and around the Firth of Forth, so keep your eyes peeled!
Those on the Three Bridges & Islands tour will then continue to explore the ‘Inches' (Inch being the old Gaelic word for island!). Inchgarvie is right next to the railway bridge. The island was fortified in the 16th Century and during WW2, but is now a haven for sea birds.
Further along the Forth is the lovely Incholm with its ruined Abbey and visitor centre. Nearby Inchmickery used to house gun emplacements, but is now a peaceful RSPB nature reserve (so expect to see lots of happy birds in their natural, undisturbed habitat).
At the mouth of the Firth, you'll come across Cramond island on the River Almond estuary, with its tidal causeway from the beach. Once fortified, it is a lovely tranquil spot.
All tours are operated by the Forth Viking . This aptly-named RIB boat (which was purpose-built for this Edinburgh team) is tough, safe and comfortable. Offering excellent vision for all passengers, it's the ideal Firth of Forth safari vessel.
Book your powerboat sea safari Edinburgh tickets for adults and children today and get ready for a fantastic fast boat trip around the Forth and beyond!
