What Can I Expect
Hop on the Eurostar to Paris and set sail down the Seine for a lunch cruise tour of the French capital! This is a fabulous day trip from London across the Channel to visit the impossibly romantic city of Paris.
Just over two hours after your Eurostar train pulls out of London St Pancras station, you'll be saying bonjour to Paris's Gare du Nord. From here you'll head to the Rive Gauche of the River Seine, where the lunch cruise vessel will be waiting for you. Operating tours and dining cruises on the river since 1956, this Paris boat operator caters for over 3.5 million passengers a year. Now with the rapidity of Eurostar, you can easily 'do lunch' on a Paris river cruise in just a day.
Hopping off Eurostar and straight to your Parisian lunch date, you will be spoilt rotten. As soon as you're seated it's aperitif time, so you'll be served a refreshing white wine kir as prelude to your lovely three course meal afloat. And yes, it's just as you'd expect - traditional French cuisine, all freshly prepared onboard by talented chefs using in-season produce with meticulous presentation.
And as for the view from these all-glass boats, it is simply breathtaking. As you head off from the port at the Eiffel Tower you head past Les Invalides, L'Assemblee Nationale, the Orsay museum and the Institut de France. You'll see the French national library, before heading back down stream past the Ile St Louis and the Ile de la Cite, home to the famous Notre Dame (and it's hunchback!). Passing the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, you continue to the Statue of Liberty on the Ile aux Cygnes, before heading back to your original point of departure at the Port de la Bourdonnais.
After disembarking your lunch cruise boat, your visit to Paris isn't over yet. You have a couple of hours before catching the return Eurostar back to London, so you can shop, sightsee or just relax in a cafe and people watch. With a fleet of fast, modern trains and a stunning station at St Pancras, you'll have all of the sightseeing fun and none of the usual stress of international travel when you take Eurostar to Paris. Quite frankly, this is a wonderful gift we wish someone would buy for us!
