The centre is managed by outdoor pursuits specialist Richard Fawcett and the clay pigeon team is headed up by John Shipley, an expert shot who always hits the mark and has competed in many local Yorkshire county and national shooting competitions. He is now a renowned Olympic-standard coach, so we'd like to think by the time you're time here in Thirsk is up, you will have smashed your way through quite a few clay pigeon targets - and you might even prove to be a natural hotshot!

Every clay pigeon shooting experience starts with the all important briefing (after all, safety is first and foremast at this North Yorkshire ground) where you will learn all about how to stand, hold the gun, aim and fire. One thing that sets this outdoor shooting school apart is the choice of equipment, with light and heavy shotguns, as well as hard and soft cartridges, so even adept shooters won't be bored at this competition-standard set up.

As a novice, you'll start in the practice stand, then all being well you'll move to the main concourse to tackle various clays coming your way from a series of stands across the shooting ground. Choose from taster sessions with with 15 clays or 25, 50, 75 or 100 clay pigeons to aim for . You will be in a small group for the duration of the session here in Thirsk.
