What Can I Expect

Meet Becky and her birds of prey in Coalville, North West Leicestershire! We are offering half-day falconry sessions, owl experiences and private family/small group visits at this small and perfectly formed centre in Heather.

Based out of Cattows Farm, Becky and her birds are living their best lives. This 300-acre working farm is host to a lovely spacious aviary for the birds - and a delightful wooden cabin welcome office for Becky. It's a great venue in Leicestershire, well-known for pick-your-own fruit (in particular the delicious strawberries in summer!), the farm shop and events too.

As well as organising and participating in flying displays for schools, events, fairs and even weddings, Becky invites small groups to visit her base. The experiences are great, because they give you a real insight into what the working day as a falconer involves.

On arrival at Cattows Farm, you'll be met by Becky and you start off with a talk about raptors, their history and how they are trained, as well as the all important safety brief and advice on how to approach and handle the birds. It's at this point that Becky's knowledge and passion for her birds of prey really stands out and you know you are in for a truly memorable experience.

Then it's time to meet the birds! Becky (the feathered one) is a lovely Buzzard who can be a bit grumpy. Fenn the stunning Barn Owl loves to fly to your gloved hand. Puck is as cute as they get. Splat is a very handsome boy with graceful flight. Kip the Kestrel is a proper gentleman. Angus the Bengal Eagle Owl is a real crowd-pleaser, especially when he does his low-level, silent-flight fly pasts.

You'll learn all about the characteristics of these different species and, with no more than four people in each group, you each get loads of hands-on time too.
