What Can I Expect

Explore the Merseybeat era on a Beatles walking tour around the band's native Liverpool! These leisurely-paced visits on foot around the World Capital of Pop will show you all the best sights, landmarks and buildings that are inextricably linked to the Fab Four.

This walking tour concentrates on the early years of the Beatles, from when they formed in 1960 to the end of the golden years of rock and roll in around 1967. Back in the early 60s, music was dominated by ballads. The kids wanted more. The Beatles turned popular music on its head with their snazzy tailoring and upbeat rock and roll tunes.

Along with other Liverpudlian artists such as Gerry and the Pacemakers, the Searchers and Cilla Black, these young, fun and cool kids took on the world and achieved huge success. But George, Paul, Ringo and John never forgot their roots and Liverpool has never forgotten its most famous sons.

Setting off from Central Liverpool, you'll walk with your Beatles-expert host, following in the footsteps of the fab four on their journey to international superstardom. You'll be able to take selfies in front of their statues, see the places where they hung out as young musicians and listen to their music too.

A highlight is heading down Matthew Street, home to the infamous Cavern club, where the Beatles played their first gig in 1961. It was afternoon show and there were sandwiches. By 1963 the Love Me Do warblers had played 292 shows and they were adored by fans. In 1961 the Twist and Shout hitmakers had been spotted and then signed by Brian Epstein, who became known as the ‘fifth Beatle'.

No Beatles tour of Liverpool would be complete without walking past the Cavern's wall of fame. It's like a who's who of pop history and is quite mesmerising. Your Beatles walking tour finishes at Liverpool's waterfront area, with shops, bars and restaurants for you to relax in after your two-hour stroll.
