What Can I Expect
All aboard for the All Creatures Great and Small tour in Yorkshire! This all-day mini coach tour will see you touring the delightful Yorkshire Dales to see filming locations from the famous TV series loved by millions.
Based on the best-selling books by Alf Wight, writing under the pen name of James Herriot, All Creatures Great and Small was a hit show for the BBC in the 1970s, with the 2020s remake for Channel 5 proving hugely popular too. Time to see the life that would happen to a vet for yourself!
Setting off from the centre of York, you will be touring filming locations around the Dales used in both the Channel 5 and the BBC series. There is a lot to see and your driver guide will tell you all about the show's characters and the places featured.
See Skeldale House where James worked as a vet alongside Siegfried and his younger brother Tristan. Admire the lovely pubs used for the outside shots of the fictional Drover's Arms and even spot the bus stop where James proposed to Helen!
Everyone loved watching this show. Not only was the Yorkshire backdrop spectacular, we fell in love with the characters. And who could forget Trixi Woo the spoilt pooch and all those messy call outs to calving emergencies!
A highlight of the tour for many is the visit to the ‘World of James Herriot', the 1940s house that has been fully restored to reflect life as it was for Alf Wight when he lived there whilst working as a vet and where he started to pen his books.
We think these All Creatures Great and Small tours offer a thoroughly lovely day out in the Dales, taking in lots of the fictional places you'll recognise from the series.
