What Can I Expects
The Mk26B is a 90% scale Spitfire for the 21st century. It's the brainchild of Mike O'Sullivan, the owner of Supermarine Aircraft. He and his band of merry aviators, technicians and engineers are building, flying and maintaining a fleet of 12 Mk26Bs to fill the skies with of Britain once again with that famous elliptical wing-shape that was so influential in the skies during WW2.
A hangar at Enstone Airfield in Oxfordshire is where the magic is happening. Each rivet, each wing strut and every engine is lovingly worked by the highly skilled team, whose work you'll be sponsoring when you adopt a Spitfire through Into The Blue.
Coming to you in a rather dashing metal tin, your kit includes loads of Spitfire info and everything you need to register your adoption. Once you've registered as a supporter of the Mk26B Spitfire project, you'll receive your personalised Spitfire adoption certificate and an invite to arrange a visit via the online website to tour the hangar.
It's totally fascinating stuff and it's really interesting to hear how everyone involved is so passionate about celebrating and commemorating everyone from the factory workers and the test pilots, to the RAF High Command and the numerous Spitfire squadrons around the UK through this project.
By buying a Spitfire adoption kit, you will not only be supporting a really worthy cause, but also getting yourself an invite to have a really good nosey around a very special hangar. If you know anyone who loves their classic aviation, they will adore this adopt a Spitfire kit that'll welcome them into the ACESquadron.
