What were our best selling gifts of 2015?
So now 12th night has happened and you’ve packed away the Christmas decorations, 2015 is properly done and dusted and you’re finally getting used to writing 2016, we thought we’d take a little nostalgic look back on 2015 to see what our best selling gifts in 2015 were.
And you certainly took us by surprise in 2015 with just how adventurous and generous you all are with your activity gift vouchers! Here’s the rundown of the most popular vouchers on IntotheBlue.co.uk across the whole of last year:
10 – Two-seater Spitfire Flights
Most definitely not the cheapest of experience gifts, but you have to agree, the chance to fly in a real two-seater vintage Spitfire is utterly the stuff of dreams – and it’s exclusive to IntotheBlue.co.uk and it takes place right here at Biggin Hill Airport where we are based. It’s like Spitfire serendipity wouldn’t you say?
Lovely Leeds Castle near Maidstone is by far your favourite place to go Segwaying! Heading off on one of these cross country personal transporters is the perfect way to explore the extensive grounds of this pretty-as-a-picture fairytale castle, complete with all the turrets, finely manicured gardens you could ever need, as well as the ubiquitous moat.
Oh you are such old romantics aren’t you? It seems you like nothing better to treat the one you love to a night at the theatre with a pre or post show dinner included. Whether you love a bit of a dance at Stomp, want to get all emotional at the Curious Incident or just want to singalong to your fave MJ songs at Thriller Live, you lot can’t get enough of the West End’s very best musical and plays, especially when there’s a table for two at a local eatery waiting for you too!
7 – Duxford Spitfire Experiences
We think these are very special days out at Duxford for classic aviation fans and coming in at number seven on our 2015 list of best selling gifts tells us you love them too. Not only do you get to enjoy a ‘wing to wing’ flight in a Dragon Rapide alongside a Spitfire, you get a pre-flight briefing in the control tower and entry to the IWM Duxford exhibits too. There are also lots of other adds-on like meet the pilots, and guided tours too.
No surprise here, as you love flying lessons and that’s where are roots are! Having started off this whole experience malarky by offering flying lessons as a sideline to the Biggin Hill Air Shows, we still pride ourselves on having one of the most extensive ranges of trial flights out there, so there’s bound to be a flying school near you, wherever you are in the country, for your 30-minute taster flight.
5 – Indoor Skydiving
Oh you are such daredevils! Giving you the equivalent free fall time of several actual parachute jumps, these indoor Airkix centres give you all the rush without the training. It’s actually become a hobby and competitive sport too, so if these experiences get you hooked you could take it up regularly.
4 – Lorry Driving
You love to keep on trucking’! They might clog up the inside lane of the motorway as they trundle along in convoy, but they fetch and carry all the things we need to use and want to buy all over the country, so respect to all HGV drivers! These experiences give you the chance to drive a proper articulated lorry – enjoy your high up position in the cab and have fun negotiating those 16 gears (yes, that sixteen!).
And now to the top three best selling gifts of 2015!
3 – Two-hour Flying Experience in Coventry
It seems you Midlanders can’t get enough of flying, with this double whammy aerial extravaganza giving you not one, but two flights in a light aircraft. For one you will be up front in the captain’s seat and taking control and for the other you’re a back seat passenger, so you get to enjoy the views AND drive the thing! Great value for money.
2 – VIP Spitfire Tours and ‘Sit in a Spit’
Yet another Spitfire-related experience makes it to the number two spot. Again, these unique experiences are at Biggin Hill and give you exclusive access to a hangar that is basically filled to the brim with very gorgeous and near enough priceless vintage warbirds including Spitfires (a variety of Marks included), Hurricanes, Harvards and more. This is truly classic aviation heaven in the heart of Kent for you!
And finally, sitting pretty in the coveted number one spot is
1 – Up at the O2! The O2 is no longer just a premier event and concert venue in the capital – it’s not the place to climb up and get fab views of London! On paper it sounds all quite mad: you don a climbing harness and you head up and across those famous fabric domes on a specially constructed walkway across the webbed roof. In reality, it’s very safe but you will need to keep your wits about you, but your bravery will be heartily rewarded with amazing panoramic views from the summit!
With near to a 1000 different experiences and days out on offer from IntotheBlue.co.uk and new ones being added every week, we’re looking forward to seeing what tickles your fancy for this coming year to make our 2016 list of best selling gift vouchers!
