Fun activities in the water

Things to do in the water

Get out and play on (and around!) the water! From late summer sizzlers, to scorching school hols, whenever the weather gets hot, kids (and many adults too) love nothing more than having fun in the water.

Do you have fond memories of jumping in the paddling pool, playing with water balloons or starting a water fight? Then great news – Into The Blue offers a whole range of family activities in and around water, guaranteed to give everyone a good time – and get you all wet!

So much fun on the inflatable aqua park!

Aqua Parks

Ever fancied having a go on TV’s Total Wipeout course – but without the inconvenience of flying to Argentina, mud pools and meeting Richard Hammond? Water parks in the UK are similar inflatable obstacle courses on lakes.

Think bouncy castles on water – with running, jumping, bouncing, as well as slipping, sliding and splashing into the water. Note that for this activity all participants do need to be able to swim to take part, but it is hugely worth it and enormous fun!

You will 100% get wet when you do aqua sphereing!

Aqua Sphereing

Staying with the bouncing and splashing theme, another great water-based activity is aqua sphereing. This requires virtually zero physical effort, but you will have a wet and wild ride.

Invented in the adventure sport world capital of New Zealand, take one inflatable ‘zorb’ ball to the top of a hill, pop in two people and a bucket of soapy water, then you roll and splash away. And if it all sounds a bit like being inside a big, bouncing mobile washing machine…that’s because it is!

Action-packed Water Adventures

If you have a family of hardcore adrenaline junkies, then Into The Blue also offers some true high-energy action in the water. Based in rugged outdoor landscapes, gorge walking, canyoning and coasteering are certain to challenge you mentally as well as physically – and, of course, to get you completely soaking wet.

As the name suggests, gorge walking involves making your way along natural valleys, with water running through them. Canyoning is more extreme and includes abseiling and jumping from height to go through deep gorges. Coasteering takes place by the sea and involves crossing rocky cliffs and includes swimming and diving into the water. Great fun so long as you don’t mind heights!

Scuba Diving

Finally, no self-respecting blog would be complete without mention of what is one of our longest-running water activities – scuba diving.

Available at a vast number of pools around the country and suitable for a wide range of ages, the classic PADI-recognised ‘scuba taster’ experience is a great way of deciding if you want to take this activity further and get your scuba diving licence. They’re really good value for money, with all the gear and tuition included.

As you can see, there’s a definite theme to these water activities…getting wet!

These are just a taster of the many water-based activities on offer at Into the Blue. You can also try out or book lessons for other fun water sports, such as surfing at major UK coastal resorts, as well as windsurfing and that classic group activity of white water rafting.
