End of the road for one of our fave cookery shows

No more Ready Steady Cook..no more voting green pepper or red tomato...

No more Ready Steady Cook..no more voting green pepper or red tomato…

Tragic news in the world of daytime telly with the announcement that cookery show ‘Ready, Steady, Cook!’ has been axed. Now we rememeber wayyyyy back in time when the show started. We were a student and, like many, we loved nothing better than a cup of tea and a sit down to watch Fern Britton and the chefs show us how to make a meal in minutes from a bag of ingredients costing no more than a fiver.

Ah halcyon days! Loads of big name celeb chefs have done their time in the red or green kitchen, including the likes of Anthony Worrall Thompson, Ross Burden, James Martin (how we loved his spun sugar trick!), Brian Turner and Mr Fern Britton himself, Phil Vickery.

Nearly 2000 shows have gone out to the nation and, although there have been tweaks to the format and Ainsley Harriott replaced Fern Britton as host, we still get to vote with our green peppers or red tomatoes!

So where to look now then if you want to learn some handy hints on how to rustle up some food? Well, you could take a look at the huge range of cookery lessons and classes Into the Blue has on offer. We can’t promise Ainsley will be there, but you will learn a lot!
